Ordering terms

Policy

Clear expectations for availability, pickup, shipping conditions, live arrival communication, and care support.

Culture-first policy

Healthy colonies come before quick sales.

  • Availability is posted only when cultures are healthy and producing steadily.
  • Cultures are not split or sold if doing so would weaken the main colony.
  • Bayou Born may delay orders during unsafe temperatures, storms, holidays, or carrier delays.
  • Customers are encouraged to ask care questions before ordering.

What to expect

Ordering and arrival basics

Availability

Steady cultures only

Culture availability depends on production, season, and the health of the main colony. If a culture needs more time, Bayou Born will hold it back.

Pickup

Local pickup may be available

Local pickup may be available in the Slidell / Northshore area. Message ahead for current options and timing.

Shipping

Weather and carrier holds

Shipping may be delayed during unsafe heat, cold, storms, holidays, or carrier delays. The goal is live, healthy arrival, not rushing a box.

Before ordering

Have the setup ready

Buyers should have an enclosure or culture bin ready before ordering. Isopods and tropical springtails need moisture, ventilation, leaf litter, calcium, and food after arrival.

Live arrival

Contact quickly if there is an issue

If there is an arrival problem, contact Bayou Born quickly with clear photos of the culture cup, packing, and animals so the situation can be reviewed fairly.

Care support

Success matters

Bayou Born wants customers to succeed, not just buy cultures. Text or email if you need help choosing a culture or dialing in care.
